Imagine gazing out at a crowd full of people with smiles on their faces, hands risen to the sky, and bodies moving to the music; the music and atmosphere that you helped create. DJ Kidd Dogg has experienced that feeling for eight years now and knows first hand what it's like being a DJ, especially here in Utah. With his talents he can adapt to any type of club whether it be a dance club such as The Sky Bar a.k.a, "The elite bar of Salt Lake," where he spins every Tuesday night, or even a strip club.
While growing up in Oakland California, he was inspired by a friend that DJ'ed, "old school" artists like Too Short and Ice T. With his love for music and outgoing personality, he found himself making it a permanent career.
There are many differences between playing at a dance club verses a strip club. One of course is the atmosphere and the crowd. Most everyone has been to a club one time or another, but not everyone has had the chance to experience the strip club scene.
"Sometimes it's like I'm a jukebox. I play what the girls want or what the clients want because they tend to tip better when I do; although it definitely has it's 'visual' perks," Kidd explained with a laugh.
Visual perks or not, he feels that playing at a regular club is much more enjoyable. For him, it gives him a chance to be out with a group of friends who happen to be at every big gig for support, having fun and getting paid at the same time. Kidd states, "We're fun people. People need to have more fun with their lives. Everyone is just way too serious!"
Having Kidd Dogg host a private party is simple and easy. He can play any type of music with his own state of the art sound system to provide a party unlike one's ever experienced.
For the last ten years Salt Air has been known as a great place for concerts, it still is, although Friday nights have been transformed into an exciting environment to socialize, drink and dance to cutting edge music played by Kidd, Country Chris and DJ Majesty.
It's an 18 or older club, which stays open until 2:00 am. The dance floor is open to all ages, but the upstairs is for 21 and older. Admission is only five dollars. The setting is unlike any other club around. When upstairs, people can sit at the bar, or at tables that actually have comfortable chairs to sit in. The huge glass windows face the Great Salt Lake and give an illusion of being away from it all. "It feels so exciting, out here. It 's almost like we're in a whole different world!" Shayla Johnson, a dedicated fan of Kidd Doggs states.
It's definitely a fun time, and for someone who is sick of the same old club scene, check out Kidd Dogg at Salt Air on Friday nights! It's a whole new and different experience.
