Dear Holly and Lisa,

Were can I find cheap books?

I'm glad you asked. I for one have become quite the expert when it comes to finding awesome steals on books! If the SLCC bookstores prices are through the roof, or they don't have the books in stalk I have some excellent suggestions. And my first one would be to shop online. There are all kinds of great deals and tons of stores to choose from. Don't know where to start? Try goggling "compare text prices" and there are a few websites that will compare the best prices for you. My favorite site to use is Chegg.com. Chegg is a textbook rental site. Don't want to pay 150 dollars for your math book? No problem, just go rent it during the semester for 50 bucks! Plus for every book you rent they plant a tree, so it also helps you go green while saving money. When the semester is over sending the book back is super easy. All you have to do is print and slap their pre-paid shipping label on a box and have Ups take care of the rest. I hope my tips have helped you. Don't forget to check it out.

How do I apply for Financial Aid?

Signing up for Financial Aid is a timely process but pretty simple. First, they strongly recommend to sign up online. It's safer and much faster. First apply for a federal PIN number at U.S. Department of Education. Once you have your PIN number, fill out the Free Federal Application for Student Aid at FAFSA on the Web - U.S. Department of Education. Finally, submit you completed form to the federal processor. If, for some reason an applicant cannot be awarded a letter stating the nature of the problem will be sent. The most common reason a student cannot be awarded is lack of Satisfactory Academic Progress. For further information, come to the Financial Aid Office on the 2nd floor of the Student Center, Redwood Campus or the Financial Aid Offices at the South, Jordan or Sandy Campuses. Or you can call (801) 957-4410.

Where do I go for Scholarships?

Great question. Each year hundreds of students want to know how to apply, and what the requirements are. The majority of scholarship applications are available in January and February for the following semester. The SLCC Development office website has the updated scholarships listed and deadlines. Here at SLCC you can receive a scholarship for almost any department. Scholarship deadlines for the following semester are anywhere between May 1, 2009 and May 15, 2009.
